Building upon the success of the Promotions Calendars over the last few years, the Postal Service has developed a Promotions Calendar for Calendar Year (CY) 2019. The 2019 Promotions continue to encourage marketers, printers, and mailers to utilize new technology and print techniques that enhance the traditional benefits of a physical mailpiece. This in turn can drive higher response rates and increase the overall return on the mailer’s investment in mail. By encouraging the use of technologies integrated in mail, the Postal Service expects to increase the value of direct mail and retain the volumes of transactional mail, thereby ensuring long-term product growth. The 2019 Promotions range between 3 to 6 months in duration, starting in February. Ultimately, the Postal Service decided to focus the 2019 Promotions on the following areas: USPS Informed Delivery, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Near Field Communication and Beacons, Shoppable Video, Video in Print, Programmatic and Retargeting Mail, Mobile and Social Media Shopping, Tactile, Sensory and Interactive Print, and Transpromotional Messaging on bills and statements.

The 2017 Mobile Shopping promotion encourages mailers to integrate mobile technology with direct mail to create a convenient method for consumers to do their shopping.

2017 Personalized Color Transpromo Promotion

Promotion Period: July 1 - December 31, 2017
Registration Period: May 15 - December 31, 2017

Mailers are encouraged to invest in color print technology by producing bills and statements that use personalized color transpromotional messaging. For eligible mailers, this promotion will provide an upfront postage discount.

2017 Tactile, Sensory, & Interactive Promotion

​Promotion Period: February 1 - July 31, 2017
Registration Period: December 15, 2016 – June 30, 2017

This promotion leverages some of the latest technological advances within the print industry, providing marketers with exciting new ways to enhance and encourage sensory engagement with a mailpiece. The print industry has been innovative not only in print production equipment, but the fundamental elements of mail itself through new developments in papers/stocks, substrates, finishing techniques and inks. These elements can be incorporated to engage in a multi-sensory experience through the use of special visual effects, sound, scent, texture/tactile treatments and even taste.

2017 Emerging and Advanced Technology Promotion

Promotion Period: March 1 - August 31, 2017
Registration Period: January 15 - August 31, 2017

This promotion encourages mailers to integrate mail with advances in mobile technology using NFC technology, Video in Print (ViP), Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)/Beacon technology, "Enhanced" Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality or Digital to Direct Mail experience to allow the recipient to engage in innovative digital and mobile experiences triggered from their mailpiece. New for this year is the inclusion of Virtual Reality to generate opportunities to immerse consumers by creating interactivity and harnessing a first-hand engagement experience. We have also added Digital to Direct Mail to this year’s promotion to elicit a higher response from consumers by using dynamically printed, personalized messaging that is automatically triggered based on a digital interaction.

2017 Direct Mail Starter Promotion

Promotion Period: May 1 - July 31, 2017
Registration Period: March 15 - July 31, 2017

"New" Opportunities for the small and medium market segments to grow and attract new mailers. This promotion is offered to first time mailers to promote events and offers that incorporate the use of print-mobile technology on up to 10,000 mailpieces during the length of the promotion.

2017 Earned Value Promotion

Promotion Period: January 1 - June 30, 2017
Registration Period: November 15 - December 31, 2016

The 2017 Earned Value Promotion attempts to slow the decline of First-Class Mail in general and Business Reply Mail (BRM) and Courtesy Reply Mail (CRM) in particular. The Earned Value Promotion will be offered to participants who use Business Reply Mail (BRM) enclosures and Courtesy Reply Mail (CRM) enclosures. Share Mail enclosures is an additional product that has been added to this promotion.

2016 Earned Value Promotion
