Postage Evidencing Systems (PES)

Postage meters and PC Postage products, collectivity identified as the Postage Evidencing Systems (PES) are secure postage metering systems that generate indicia imprinted on or affixed to a shipping/mailing piece to evidence prepayment of postage.  The USPS regulates PES and their use to protect postal revenue in accordance to US Code of Federation Regulations, 39 CFR Part 501.  The USPS-Commercial Payment office manages PES related activities for USPS;  including establishing/administering the PES Performance Criteria (PC) and PES compliance to USPS mailing, shipping, and payment standards.
